Kept warm in a purple sweater Kris Donelon is seated in her patio furniture inside her California Heights garage. A couple of satellite dish space heaters keep the dampness of the rainy day warm like invisible blanket waves. Before the beginning of the skate park movement in Long Beach, California she has been by Mike Donelon’s side ever since they courageously organized the youth by passing out flyers on roller blades beside the steps of Belmont Pool during the late 90s. Kris’ pensive moment followed the grand opening of the Michael K. Green skate park. They faced many challenges side […]

The message is conveyed. Some may not get it anyway. A broadcast streams over the television set about millionaires tossing around a fully inflated pigskin. Here are the chargers who organized the pouring of yardage of concrete to form an endless wave. Wasted stimulus are those who watch the game and never enter the engagement. The slave is the self. We talk about it like it’s good health, but the giver has the wealth. The Master came to give the dead life not in stealth. A belt of truth worn in martial law. A Survivor commercial by grace. Are you […]

The wave of an indigo blue fence like chain mail rises upward like a roller coaster along East 14th Street. Pure amusement will follow in the morning, but for now the surging waves of deep blue emotion impact Ms. King’s quiet reflection. Rollers of darkness have taken their toll, but will not compromise a beloved soul. Trust as the dusk rapidly diminishes. The indigo sky is not made out of dye. One dilated white light is near her solemn stance. An orange street light animates her black mossy braids. The other dilated circles behind her back are clustered together like […]

The temporary fence panels line 14th Street like a freight train. Sheer green tarps like night clothes let’s you see almost what’s going in inside. The bubbles have not been blown upon the windscreens.  At street level fence posts anchored by interlaced sandbags tides from frame to frame. A construction zone of renovation. National signs repeat around the perimeter to curb illicit activities. The skate park will be refurbished soon. Orange cones stand alones. Mark the area with reflective collars. Identify the Light. Jesus. Follow on the Light on the path never walking in darkness. Endure the gaff to have the light of life. The […]

The garage door is open. Like most dated garages this one is packed with years full of accumulation and memories of the Donelons. Bud Light and Dr. Pepper cans stock the mini refrigerator. Temporary relief spits open under pressure. The target of a revolution is the heart. Three darts to throw. Everyone gets their chance. The wings determine where the mini-javelins will end up on the painted sisal fibre. A neon Bud Light sign hangs on the skeletal wooden wall like a bar scene. The gathering dispels the myth of self-healing. The paragraphs flowing from the meeting between Ms. King […]

At ninety degrees the daylight draws the line. Goose spreads his arms and legs as wide as a fork lift on the loading dock. Gumshoes sock it to the head and tail. Pigeon spikes force bobbing birds to land elsewhere. Caution, the fork lift could bust through the overlapping vinyl strip door. The clerk manifests the utmost care in shipping and handling. Receive it. The suspended ice sculpture will stack back onto the skateboard in a split second. Roll away like a blue wooden pallet angled right into the corner by the jack. Lifted up and let down in slow motion. A […]

You could be anywhere, but you’re here at top of the concrete slopes. Like an Aspen ski resort, Pine trees surround the dark park. Tungsten light lights the wavy fade. He considers our locks of hair. Precious variety. He’s unlocked the way to eternal life. This is the life, don’t trip on the stumbling block. Incandescent bodies rise and fall among the slopes on skate lifts. Glowing condensation succeeds on a thriving passion. Tend the sheep. They flock here. Do not block the pathway. Feed friendships the Light’s righteousness so that they’re not rendible. The flock is under His care. […]

You could be anywhere, but you’re here at top of the concrete slopes. Like an Aspen ski resort, Pine trees surround the dark park. Tungsten light lights the woolly mohawk. Incandescent bodies rise and fall among the slopes on skate lifts. Glowing condensation succeeds on a thriving passion.  Hang one’s hat on the forest green steel railing coated with brushes of rust. Merging eclipses of soft bokeh like petals thrown into the night’s procession.

Follow in someone else’s skateboarding shoes. It’s a life giveaway. It could happen if you show up. There’s a chance they won’t fit. Quite a trip. Ready to rip? Black labels instantly cruise over the miles of cables. Black labels make perfect chroma keys. Special effects alter the truthful reality. Faux osteoderms on skin signatures are prehistoric matters. Love letters step into memory foam soles condone higher levels of aggression from head to toe. His Louisiana soul has a deeper drive propelling the skateboard through persecution. The smile comes from what kept Antioch alive. Dead grass splashes on molten asphalt. […]

Norfolk, Virgina is a city below a big river. Fresh and salt water churn at the mouth. Juice sprints down the commercial business district. He passes the brick buildings lining the thoroughfare defining where to shop. The blinds have been closed to stop the attraction for the day. The creative class are elsewhere in the Ghent. The single attempt creates a dream in the desolation. Redefining the trash lining over and above the receptacle. Global robotic consumerism uses and discards with or without the Son. There’s too much air conditioning in our lives. There is nothing new. Fly by or you’ll be […]
