Master Peace
The peremptory verdict was found over a series of numerous trials by the jury and ruled final by Judge Gary J. Ferarri. His voice announced the life sentences to the defendants shackled from ankles to wrists in baggy navy blue prison uniforms. The gavel pounded the wooden plate for each defendant responsible for the slaying. As soon as the plaintiff escorts the citizens away, behind the wooden door, they are renamed into numeric convicts. They were handed the people’s blame for what they destroyed with their hands. Ms. King’s attention was undivided. She heard the ringing sound of victory and the reverberation of justice throughout her soul.
Calamity came like an unexpected guest whose permanent stay caused unrest within the home not yet an empty nest. Receiving the news of your son’s death, due to murder is heavy. Pronounced cheeks made Mike’s unique smile. The exact resemblance of his mother’s countenance. The crushing weight made Ms. King convulse in sorrow. Her response was bold defiance against the old law of an eye for an eye. Jesus says unto us, “resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
“Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy: but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you.” Ms. King instructed her enemies to ‘make peace with God’ before she exited the courtroom. An excerpt from her impact statement shows the power of God’s love moving within her devastated heart. Now I see the invisible righteousness testified in front of my eyes. People are quickly called victims. It’s what I initially thought too; however, she listened to the voice who made her a victor. The new narrative lives onward by Jesus who is the master peace intricately renovating the human heart.
