The Itch
LIT is a collection of digital photographs focused on the bus stop studio at night. It’s the use of the current vernacular “LIT” as the opposite of the Me, Myself and I high. You can see through the shelter to the other side of life into the eternal cosmic design. The One who keeps it LIT. Often people think, “Do not get in the way of my high. I’m lit.” Who has “LIT” you? While you’re tired out on your journey, take a moment to observe the stillness surrounding the well. Revelation unforgettable.
Just think who came to visit? A DIY find for the studio with three main component: a structure, a light and a subject. It’s designated to shed light on a place in passing. What is the lighting? Where does it come from? Two light sources. A bonus light way behind. The all-in-one shelter is an important component to the transportation system, yet has become a rest stop for human services. Staying is the opposite of going in the Metro, but at a moments notice movement changes the scene.
Public residencies are out front. What’s in the receptacle? The bus stop holds a human. The dented metal trash bin holds a silver star hub cap. The shopping cart holds belongings sagging over the side like bumpers while he’s docked. The push to get through requires private moments of care; perhaps even prayer. Seated cross legged, one worn shoe stays next to the other as the man pulls tightly at his grey sock. A chrome radio antennae point prods his Achilles heel. Penetrating the itch for relief until the urge quickly comes back like hunger for satisfaction. The station’s waves never stop. The transmission remains invisible until the receiver has clear reception dialed in on a black dial of compassion. Love redefines the crude construction inside humans. It goes into the metro like lambs among wolves. LIT is the divine light pointed out along the way. He does the tip so well. Private cosmic correspondence without commercial advertisement. Skip. God with us: beholder and subject.
